The Chinese government has established measures to account for the fact that all students will need a visa, regardless of the length of their study programs, and anticipates having 500,000 international students enrolled in its higher education institutions by 2020. International students can apply for either the X1 or X2 visa, depending on whether they want to stay in China for more than 180 days or less. We have made the procedure simpler for you.

Chinese student visas for X1

Anyone planning to stay in China to further their education for more than 180 days must apply for an X1 visa.

What you will need is as follows:

  • Active passport for the duration of your visit to China.
  • The photo-accompanied visa application form.
  • The authentic JW201 or JW202 admission letter from your university and a photocopy.
  • Depending on the kinds of scholarships you are awarded by your university, you will either receive a JW201 or JW202 letter. The university will specify which form you need to fill out, and the Chinese government will decide which one to assign you.

Chinese Student Visas for X2

An X2 visa must be applied for by anyone planning to study in China for less than 180 days.

What you will need is as follows:

  • Active passport for the duration of your visit to China.
  • The photo-accompanied visa application form.
  • The original and copy of your Chinese university’s letter of admission.

How much will your student visa for China cost?

Depending on where you live, the cost of a Chinese visa typically ranges from £ 20 to £ 100. For additional information, consult your university or the website of the Chinese Embassy in your nation.

You can get assistance from your university with your visa application. If you have any queries, always check with the international office.

You must apply in person for a residency permit at the police station that is most convenient for your home once you arrive in China. Additionally, you need to do this each time your hosting provider changes.
